The TikTok of Competition – WSJ

The news Friday that Microsoft is in talks to buy the U.S. operations of TikTok, the Chinese-owned video app, may be an example of the market increasing business competition and solving a political problem at the same time.

The political issue is the Trump Administration’s looming decision to ban TikTok from the U.S. or force its Chinese owner, ByteDance, to divest the app that is popular with American children. The grounds would be concern about Communist Party collection of data on U.S. users, and it’s not a crazy worry…
